About Garden Robot Atlas

An independent database of robotic lawn mowers, built to answer one question: which one actually suits your garden?

Garden Robot Atlas exists to answer a question that is surprisingly hard to answer well:

I have a lawn of a certain size, with certain slopes and a certain shape. Which robotic mower actually suits it?

Search for that today and you mostly find affiliate articles that rank ten products, describe each one in glowing terms, and never quite explain why any of them would suit your garden.

We took a different approach. This site is a database first, and the recommendations are built from it.

What we do

  • We record the published specifications of robotic lawn mowers — working area, slope rating, navigation technology, cutting width, zones, connectivity — from official manufacturer sources.
  • We link the source document for every record, and show the date it was last checked.
  • We use those figures, and only those figures, to decide which mowers suit which gardens.
  • We explain our reasoning, every time. The Mower Finder does not just produce a score — it tells you which specification produced it.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell mowers. We are not a retailer and we hold no stock.
  • We are not owned by a manufacturer, and no manufacturer has any say over what appears here.
  • We do not invent specifications. Where a manufacturer has not published a figure, the page says "not published". It is never estimated, rounded or filled in from a similar model.
  • We do not pretend to have tested things we have not tested. Where a mower has been physically tested by us, the page says so and shows our notes. Everywhere else, the page says plainly that the information comes from published specifications.
  • We do not publish star ratings or invented review scores.

Why "unknown" appears so often

You will see "not published" on these pages more than on most comparison sites. That is deliberate.

Filling gaps with plausible guesses would make the site look more complete and make it considerably less useful. A specification we cannot verify is one we will not use to recommend a mower to you — so the Mower Finder excludes a model from a requirement it cannot demonstrate, rather than giving it the benefit of the doubt.

How we are funded

When you buy a mower through a link on this site, the retailer may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

That is the entire business model, and we would rather be direct about it than bury it. What it does not affect is the data: commission rates play no part in which mower the Finder recommends, and the specification tables are identical whether or not we earn anything from a given model.
