Robot Mower Finder

A few questions about your garden. We score every eligible mower against your answers using published specifications only — and show you the reasoning behind every score.

Currently scoring against 28 verified models.

1. How big is your lawn?

The total area the mower needs to cut, in square metres. An estimate is fine.

Not sure? Pace out the length and width in metres and multiply them. Leave out flower beds, paths and the patio.

2. How steep is the steepest part?

Use the steepest part the mower must cut. A model must meet this gradient to be included.

Enter a percentage, not degrees: 25% is about 14°. Leave blank for a flat lawn. For a bank, use the measured gradient rather than choosing a lower estimate.

3. What is your garden like?

Tick everything that applies. Multi-zone and wire-free choices are hard requirements; tree cover affects the evidence score.

Narrow passages and rough ground are not scored yet: cutting width and slope do not prove body clearance, traction or suspension. Check those measurements in the exact model's manual.

4. What is your budget?

Optional. A recent price above this maximum rules a model out. A model with no current price stays visible with a warning.

Prices in another currency stay visible, with budget fit marked unconfirmed.

How the scoring works

The fit score is a deterministic editorial evidence check, not a manufacturer rating or a test result. Each factor you answer is weighted, and the result is normalised across those factors:

  • Lawn size — 35 points. A hard gate: the published area rating must cover your lawn.
  • Slope — 20 points. A hard gate when you enter a gradient.
  • Navigation — 20 points. Published non-satellite positioning for tree cover and documented wire-free installation.
  • Zones — 10 points. Awarded when multi-zone support is documented.
  • Budget — 15 points. A recent price must be within the maximum; an unknown or stale price earns no budget points and is flagged.

Lawn area, slope, separate-zone and wire-free requirements are absolute. A current price above your maximum also rules a model out. Unknown facts never count in a mower's favour.
